    MAINTENANCE General Routine maintenance consists of periodically tightening down the compression plate to compensate for shaft seal wear. The compression plate, however, should not be tightened down too tight, since this will shorten the life of the seals. More extensive maintenance such as seat, seal and bearing replacement is described below.
