removing, note the orientation of each diode as indicated by a band encircling the diode nearest one end.

Cut four lengths of insulation sleeving just long enough to cover the wire leads at both ends of each
diode then crimp new terminal rings to the diodes in the same orientation as the ones which were
removed. Re-attach ringed end to the terminal strip and soft solder both loose diode ends to the
terminal pin per ANSI standard IPC -A-610A,

Polarization and Beamswitch Control Box Removal and Replacement Procedure
NOTE:
This procedure requires the ASR-11 System be taken out of service; therefore coordination
must be performed with Air Traffic Services to schedule downtime before this procedure is
begun.
Tools, Equipment, and Consumables required are as follows:

Verify the Replacement Polarization and Beamswitch Control Box (Control Box Assembly) is the correct
item - #174170
-
Knife for removing heat shrink
-
Needle Nose Pliers
-
Channel Lock Pliers
-
½" Combination Wrench
-
½" Socket
-
3/8" Socket
Take Control of the ASR-11 System and Place in Maintenance
a.
If monitor only, Take Control with SCDI A or SCDI B.
b.
Set Standby REX to Maintenance.
c.
Set Selected REX to Maintenance.
d.
Set Standby MSSR to Maintenance.
e.
Set Selected MSSR to Maintenance.
f.
Open the APG detailed Status and Control screen.
g.
Select Stop Rotation button.
h.
This will power off all transmitter power supplies and amplifiers.
