The Compressor(s) Do Not Run

Note: When there is a demand for outdoor air (the "occupied" switch is on) and the outdoor air
does not need mechanical dehumidification, the compressor and the refrigeration circuits of
the dehumidifier will be locked-out.

Desert Aire - QS/QV Manual
POSSIBLE CAUSES
Loss of main power
Blower overload has tripped
Faulty wiring
Compressor overload has tripped
Compressor failure may have occurred IF:
Compressor draws locked rotor amps
Compressor starts but does not pump
Motor windings have shorted
Compressor delay time
POSSIBLE CAUSES
Lack of air flow at remote condenser (On
units with air-cooled condensers)
Remote condenser blower does not run
Lack of adequate water flow (on units with
tower condensers)
Excessive incoming water temperature (on
units with tower condensers)
Excessive air in condenser water lines (on
units with tower condenser)
Overload tripped (3 phase only)
Contactor faulty
Blower cycling on internal overload (single
phase only)
Service valve closed or not fully open
Excessive pressure drop in line sets
Non-condensables in refrigeration system
Note: When the remote condenser is active and the outdoor temperature is above 95°F, normal
head pressure can be as high as 480 PSIG.
REMEDY
Check for tripped circuit breaker or blown fuses
Correct cause of reset overload
Check for loose or faulty wiring on system and
dehumidifier
Correct cause and reset overload
Replace compressor (or check fuses on
3-phase units
Replace compressor
Replace compressor
Wait 3 minutes for timer
REMEDY
Assure coil is clean and no air flow restrictions
exist around unit
Check for power at motor leads
Install flow meter or circuit setter to ensure
correct flow rate
If water temp. is above 90°F, consult factory
for required flow rates
Purge lines thoroughly or install an air
eliminator in the system piping
Reduce blower speed and reset overload
Replace contactor
Reduce blower speed
Fully open service valves
Re-evaluate remote condenser installation
Properly evacuate and recharge refrigeration
system
