3. Checking after ignition
When the
heater
ignites,
move
the chimney
handle from side
to
side
lightly
to make sure that the
burner
chimney
is
seated
correctly.
Failure to
seat
the
burner correctly will cause severe smoke and
soot
production.
And
if allowed
to remain
in
this
condition
for
unextended period of time will
partially
,
clog the burner
and
may
seriously
damage the heater.
A WARNING:
IN THE SAFE OPERATION OF THE HEATER, THE OWNER MUST MONITOR THE
HEATER FOR AT LEAST 15 MINUTES TO BE SURE HEATER IS WORKING PROP·
ERLY AND AVOID ANY ABNORMAL
BURNING.
ADJUSTING WICK DURING OPERATION
If the flame rises too high partially or red heat spreads unevenly 15-20 minutes
after
the heater has
been ignited, shake the chimney handle from
side
to
side
two
or
three times.
CAUTION:
USE CARE TO MOVE THE CHIMNEY HANDLE WHICH IS HEATED WHILE
THE
HEATER IS
IN OPERATION.
If the flame
continues
to
rise
too high, adjust the wick by raising the wick
control lever slowly.
The flame
grows
bigger when the wick
control lever
is lowered
and
it grows smaller
when
the lever
is
raised.
To
adjust the
wick properly,
keep
your eyes
on
the
condition of
the
flame and the red glow (see
illustration
below).

NOTE:
Smoke and odor
will result if the heater is
operated
with the
flame too
high
or too
low.
If
the
flame remains
too
high,
shake the chimney
handle from
side to side
two
or
three
times.
CAUTION: The wick control lever is designed to be adjusted only within a limited range. Adjust the
wick control lever gently and slowly within the limited range. Do not force the lever beyond
this range or damage to the heater may result If room temperature becomes too hot, either
turn off the heater for a while, or increase air ventilation.
TURNING YOUR HEATER OFF
Depress the
"Shut-off'
button. The wick control lever
should automatically
return to
the
"OFF"
position.

CAUTION:
Do not try to extinguish the heater by raising the control lever. Forcing the lever
could
damage the
heater.
