Basic , the improoved version of the legendary basic.
Even better and more expensive electronic components and parts, in the
power supply as well as in the phono area, improve the Basic
and its technical specs as well.
This new RIAA-MC/MM-preamplifier Basic
demands in analog music reproduction.
Another special feature of this preamplifier is the automatic adjustment to
any kind of connected MC- respectively MM-cartridge load, which means, that
the maximum capability is always achieved without additional switches.

has no power-switch and should moreover be always connected
with mains in order to keep the ideal temperature for electronic parts inside.

In order to activate the MC- or MM-function of Basic
on the bottom side. After that the ground of the turntable/tonearm should be

connected with the Basic . Now you can proceed with connecting the

Basic with your MC/MM-cartridge and preamplifier. The

instructions vice-versa.

- Notice –
Be aware of the right polarity of the external power supply by changing the
phase of the mains plug. If no phase testing equipment is available, try to
find the right position of the power chord by alternately turning the plug and
listening. You will hear the difference!
Phonostages are devices designed to provide a very high level of
amplification. This is necessary because the electrical signal generated by a
phono cartridge is extremely low (usually less than one-thousandth of a volt).
The job of the phonostage is therefore to accurately equalise the phono
signal and boost it to line level (measured in volts).
However, phonostages are by nature extremely sensitive, which leads
to the potential problem that high-frequency interference may also be
amplified to a point at which it becomes noticeable.
Unfortunately it is not possible to completely protect the sensitive phonostage
circuitry from this interference without degrading its high fidelity
performance. Therefore care must be taken to position the phonostage away
from sources of high frequency interference such as mobile phones, modems
and powerline communication systems (PLC) in which data is sent over the
mains power network.
