Automatic transmission

* The ignition switch must be "ON" and the brake pedal depressed to shift from
Park.
The initial shift range in "S" mode is set automatically to 5 or 4 according
to vehicle speed.
Downshifting increases power going uphill, or provides engine braking downhill. For
best fuel economy during normal driving conditions, always drive with the shift lever
in the "D" position.
POWER MODE
Type A
Use when high levels of response and feeling are desirable, such as when driving in
mountainous regions or when pulling a trailer.
"S" MODE
Selecting shift ranges using "S" mode restricts the upper limit of the possible gear
ranges, controls engine braking forces and prevents unnecessary upshifting.
