  • Page 4 WARNING Sherwood Scuba equipment is to be used only by individuals trained and certified by a nationally recognized scuba training agency. Diving without the necessary training in safe diving procedures or without observing the practices outlined by your training agency for your level of certification is extremely hazardous and could result in death or serious injury.
  • Page 5 Deep Diving - Deeper than the generally recognized recreational diving limit at 135 feet of seawater. Decompression Diving - At combined depth and duration exposures requiring mandatory decompression stops. Cold Water Diving - Diving in water temperatures less than 50° F (10° C) may require special techniques to avoid conditions that could result in freezing conditions inside regulators and valves.
  • Page 6 WARNING Nitrox: This Sherwood regulator is manufactured for use with standard air or enriched air nitrox (EAN) with an oxygen component not to exceed 40% at a maximum pressure of 3500 psi (240 BAR). If the regulator is used with standard air at any time it may no longer be suitable for use with nitrox unless it is reconditioned for nitrox use by a dealer or other expert trained in the proper cleaning methods.
  • Page 7 CAUTION Chemicals and Lubricants: Do not use any lubricants on your regulator between service check-ups. No additional lubrication is required and use of an improper lubricant could introduce conditions adverse to respiratory health or increase the risk of fire hazard. w w w .

  • Page 9 CAUTION After your SR and associated equipment has been configured, be certain to assemble the unit to a diving cylinder and perform a simple test dive in shallow water in a controlled environment such as a pool to verify that the system performs normally and you are familiar with its operating characteristics.
  • Page 10: Operation

OPERATION NOTICE : The SR first stage is designed with a dry sealed spring chamber to keep water and other substances out of the interior of the first stage. This not only reduces interior corrosion of the first stage, it prevents ice formation in the spring chamber in cold water diving situations.

  • Page 12 ADJUSTMENT DURING THE DIVE The SR has only one user adjustment. Adjusting the second stage knob affects both the initial breathing effort and the venturi assisting effect. The operation of the knob is the same as most regulators of this type. The easiest way to remember the operation is to think of the wheels on a car.

  • Page 14: After The Dive

When diving at the surface or when the regulator is out of the water, it is important to adjust the regulator sensitivity to the least sensitive position (rolled back, fully “IN”) to stop the venturi assisting effect and minimize the possibility of uncontrolled free flow of air.
