INSPECTION I REPAIR
CONNECTING RODS
1. Check
the
side surfaces of the big end and the small end
of each connecting rod for cracking or any other damage ..
Replace if necessary.
2. Check the connecting rod for bending and torsion using a
connecting
rod
aligner.
If
bending or torsion exceeds the
specified limit, correct with a press or replace.
CONNECTING ROD BENDING LIMIT: 0.04mm (0.0016ln) for every
100mm
CHECK FOR BEND OR TWIST.

MEASURING CONNECTING ROD ·

CLEARANCE
CHECKING CONNECTING

CONNECTING ROD TORSION LIMIT: 0.04mm (0.0016in) for every

Check the connecting rod bearings for peeling, burning, or

mel!ing: Replace if faulty.

3. Check the clearance -between the connecting rod bearings
and the piston pins.
a. Measure the inner diameter of the bearings.
CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE SMALL END AND THE PISTON PIN:
0.015mm - 0.040mm (0.0006 - 0.0016in).
