Remove excess curl in the paper stack

If you observe any excess curl around the edges of the paper stack, roll the stack
in the opposite direction to reduce the amount of curl you see. This will allow you
to insert a flat stack into the feeder.
Avoid "Blocking"
Sheets in the stack can stick together – this is known as "blocking."
To prevent blocking, bend the stack of sheets into a curve.
This action will separate sheets.
"Fan" sheets for better feeding
To "fan" the sheets, bend the stack of sheets into a curve. Firmly hold the edges
of the stack and straighten out. This action will put air between the sheets.

Prevent misfeeds

Loosely grip the paper stack and tap it on a flat surface such as a table top.
This action will jog the sheets squarely.

Ensure the sheets feed squarely

Push the side guides against the edges of the stack so they are snug,
but not pinching the sheets. If they are too tight, the sheets will not feed
into the machine.

Prevent paper jams

Insert the stack into the feeder area, then lift the top 5 sheets. Release the sheets
and check to see that they drop freely back into the feeder. If they do not drop freely,
reduce the number of sheets in the stack.
