    G ENERAL INFORMATION Midian’s VAE-10 is a voice alarm encoder that can have a voice message stored in it and when the emergency input is activated the VAE-10 will transmit an emergency ANI and the prerecorded voice message. The emergency ANI can be sent in Motorola’s MDC-1200, Kenwood’s FleetSync, Harris’ G-Star, DTMF or 5-Tone.

    Be certain to follow standard anti-static procedures when handling any of Midian’s products. Use the enclosed matching cables with RJ45 type connectors to plug into the VAE-10. The other ends can be connected to the appropriate type of radio connector using the pin-out and color codes shown below. See connector pin-out in the chart below.

    AC adaptor. To program the VAE-10, turn power onto the unit and click “Program Unit” in the menu bar to send the file to the unit. Follow the same procedure to read the unit, but select “Read Unit” in the menu bar. Cycle power on the unit after programming or reading.

Activate the emergency input J3:1 and when the VAE-10 has caused the transmitter to begin transmitting, check the deviation of the transmitter using the service monitor.

    Power LED: This red LED indicates that power is applied to the unit and that the switch is on. COR LED: This yellow LED indicates that the VAE-10 is receiving a busy indication from the radio. PTT LED: This green LED indicates that the VAE-10 is applying push to talk to the radio.

    Auto Review box is checked. Midian recommends using the power from the radio, or from our AC adaptor. Use of any other power source may void the warranty.
