6.3 Airplane Flight Manual Supplement (AFMS)

The Airplane Flight Manual Supplement (AFMS) must be completed and inserted in the Airplane Flight
Manual (AFM) or Pilot's Operating Handbook (POH), along with any operating limitations of the
aircraft.
Section 1.4 of the Airplane Flight Manual Supplement for the Garmin GDL 82 Mooney M20 Series, 190-
01810-12, is intended to specify the installation configuration for the GDL 82 system. It is the
responsibility of the installer to mark in the appropriate boxes in the AFMS with indelible ink using the
following information for guidance.
1. Fill in the required airplane information in the AFMS.
2. Fill in the appropriate check boxes in the Installation Configuration section of the AFMS as
described below:
a. Equipment Installed:
i. [1] GDL 82 (external GPS/SBAS source required) [Garmin P/N: 011-03946-00]
ii. [2] GDL 82 w/ Internal GPS/SBAS [Garmin P/N: 011-03946-40]
iii. Fill in the Make & Model of the companion Mode A/C transponder.
b. Interfaced GPS/SBAS Position Source:
i. [1] Internal
ii. [2] GTN 6XX/7XX
iii. [3] GNS 400W/500W Series
iv. [4] GNS 480
3. Fill in the appropriate check boxes in the Limitations Section of the AFMS corresponding to the
maximum aircraft operating altitude and Anonymous Mode Switch Installation:
a. Aircraft Operational Ceiling:
i. [1] 18,000 feet (UAT Operating Altitude Limit per AC 20-165B)
ii. [2] 15,000 feet (Class B Transponder Equipment Operating Altitude Limit per 14
b. Anonymous Mode Switch Installed
i. [1] YES (comply with anonymous mode operation limitations in AFMS)
ii. [2] NO
4. Insert the completed AFMS into the AFM or POH.

transponder does not meet the transmit power requirements for Class A
Equipment specified in 14 CFR Part 91.413.
