Up to three T8635 Thermostats can be connected to the
W8835 or W8703A Damper Interface Module. Up to
nine T8535 Thermostats can be used with two addi-
tional W8703 Damper Interface Modules:
1. Select zone number for each thermostat in the
system.
2. If there is only one thermostat in the system, set
the Installer Setup No. 1 to 0. See Table 6.
3. When more than one thermostat in the system,
set Installer Setup No.1 at first thermostat to 1,
second thermostat to 2, third thermostat to 3, etc,
up to nine zones. Do not set more than one ther-
mostat in the system to the same zone number.
4. Then match each thermostat with the correspond-
ing zone on the W8703 Damper Interface Module
or W8835 EnviraZone Panel.
5. Attach the zone number stickers, included with
the thermostat, onto the thermostat case on the
inside of the thermostat cover. See Fig. 14.
Place one label inside
each thermostat door.

with T8635L Thermostat.
IMPORTANT
Notice that if more than one thermostat is set
to the same zone number, the thermostat dis-
plays "4 COM".

Discovery Mode

Discovery mode begins when T8635L Thermostat and
the modules are first installed and power is connected:
— The W8835 transmits data based on its configuration
on initial powerup and when its Disovery switch is
pressed.
— The W8635 EIM transmits information to T8635L
Thermostat that indicates maximum number of
stages that are enabled and type of EIM connected.
— The thermostat receives information from the W8635
and then sets the cycle rates and equipment types
automatically.

NOTE: While in Discovery mode, the thermostat dis-
plays "wait" for 20 seconds.
To change these and other installer settings:
— Follow the instructions in Table 6.
— Manually changing the stage configuration and cycle
rate settings locks Discovery mode so if power is
lost, all custom settings are retained in memory.
If at any time (such as adding new equipment or mod-
ules) it is necessary to run Discovery mode:
— Enter Installer Setup and follow the instructions in
Table 6.
— Manually running Discovery mode unlocks it until
the stage configurations or cycle rates are changed.

Stage Configuration

To configure thermostat stages:
— W8835 EnviraZone Panel:
a. automatically configures staging based on the
W8835 configuration.
b. set Installer Setup No. 5, 8, and 9 to the num-
ber of stages controlled. See Table 6.
— W8635A EIM and T8635L:
a. automatically configures for two stages of
heat and two stages of cool.
b. set Installer Setup No. 5 and No. 8 to 1 for
one stage heat /one stage cool conventional
application. See Table 6.
— W8635B EIM and T8635L:
a. automatically configures for two stages of
heat and one stage of cool.
b. set Installer Setup No. 5 to 1 and Installer
Setup No. 9 to 0 for single-stage heat pump
application. See Table 6.

Cycle Rate

The thermostat automatically sets the cycle rate based
on the information it received during Discovery mode.
To change the default cycle rate settings:
— see Table 5 for typical cycle rate settings.
— enter Installer Setup and select the desired cycle
rate settings for each stage. (All stages can be set
between 1 and 12 cph.)
