metal type approximately by the DISC/TONE knob.
When the MODE switch is in the "DISC" position, the detector has the ability of
discriminating metals. Rotate the DISC/TONE knob from "0" to "10",the detector
will reject the different metals according to the conductivity. To the rejected metals,
the unit will not respond. The accepted metals, the unit will sound a long "DI" tone,
and the pointer will swing for one time.
When the MODE switch is in the "TONE" position, the detector also has the
ability of discriminating metals. Different from the "DISC" mode, to the rejected
metals, the unit will respond with a short "Ko" "Ko" tone. While to the accepted
metals, the unit will sound a long "DI" tone, and the pointer will swing for one time.
As it's difficult to set the discriminate position during detection, so it's more effective
to use DISC mode,
3. Adjust DISC/TONE knob
The DISC/TONE knob is only useful in "DISC" mode and "TONE" mode.
After finding metal target, the operator should use DISC/TONE knob to judge
the approximate type of the metal target. When rotating the knob from 0 to10, Iron,
Nickel, Pull tab, Zinc, Copper and Aluminum will be rejected one by one. Note: the
silver won't be rejected; The discrimination position of aluminum is similar to silver;
The discrimination position of gold is similar to pull tab.
If the operator is very experienced and there is clear target object, you should
directly adjust the DISC/TONE to the appropriate position. If there is undesired trash
metals such as iron, pull tab in the detection region, you should set the DISC/TONE
to the near of 12:00, in order to reject the trash metals.
Since the soil will deviate from the discrimination position, we suggest you take
some samples with you, such as iron nail, pull tab, 5¢ nickel coin, 25¢ silver coins.
Bury these samples in the detection soil respectively, try detecting and observe the
DISC/TONE position of the metal being rejected. It will help you judge the type of
the target, in case you omit the treasures that you want to find.
4. Choose the SENS
The operators always expects the detector's sensitivity higher. However in the
higher sensitivity range, the detector will be sensitive to the electromagnetic
interference that comes from the power lines or cables around, and it will be abnormal
to the mineralization soil or electrical conductive soil. If you move the search coil in
the detection area, and the detector always sends a false unstable signal or there is no
metal objects in the soil, please decrease the sensitivity.
