Mechanical Installation
The frequency converter utilizes a back-channel cooling
concept that removes heat sink cooling air. The heat sink
cooling air carries approximately 90% of the heat out of
the back channel of the frequency converter. Redirect the
back-channel air from the panel or room by using:

Duct cooling. A back-channel cooling kit is
available to direct the heat sink cooling air out of
the panel when an IP20/chassis frequency
converter is installed in a Rittal enclosure. Use of
this kit reduces the heat in the panel and smaller
door fans can be specified on the enclosure.
Cooling out the back (top and base covers). The
back-channel cooling air can be ventilated out of
the room so that the heat from the back channel
is not dissipated into the control room.
NOTICE
One or more door fans are required on the enclosure to
remove the heat not contained in the back channel of
the frequency converter. The fans also remove any
additional losses generated by other components inside
the frequency converter. To select the appropriate fan,
calculate the total required airflow.
Secure the necessary airflow over the heat sink. The flow
rate is shown in Table 3.2.

Lifting
Always lift the frequency converter using the dedicated
lifting eyes. To avoid bending the lifting holes, use a lifting
bar.

WARNING
RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH
The lifting bar must be able to support the weight of the
frequency converter to ensure that it does not break
during lifting.
See chapter 8.9 Power Ratings, Weight, and
Dimensions for the weight of the different
enclosure sizes.
Maximum diameter for bar: 25 mm (1 in).
The angle from the top of the frequency
converter to the lifting cable: 60° or greater.
Failure to follow recommendations could result in death
or serious injury.
Mounting
1.
Ensure that the strength of the mounting location
supports the unit weight.
2.
Place the unit as near to the motor as possible.
Keep the motor cables as short as possible.
3.
Mount the unit vertically to a solid flat surface to
provide cooling airflow. Ensure free space for
cooling.
4.
Ensure the access, to open the door.
5.
Ensure the cable entry from below.
