Eine Ausnahme sind Websmart Switches, deren Konfiguration nur über die Web-basierte Oberfläche erfolgt. Zusätzlich enthalten diese Switches einen eingebauten Netzwerk-Management-Agenten, welcher die Verwaltung über SNMP oder RMON (Gruppe 1, 2, 3, 9) erlaubt.

A Netzwerk mit DHCP-Server – Der LANCOM Switch ist bei Auslieferung auf den Auto-DHCP-Modus eingestellt, er sucht also nach einem DHCP-Server, der ihm eine IP-Adresse, die Subnetzmaske und die Adresse des Gateways zuweisen kann.
