Trouble Checks

Troubles sometimes are caused by simple "faults" that you can easily correct without the help of a service
technician by first checking a few basic remedies.
Before you call or take your camcorder to an Authorized RCA Camcorder Servicenter, look below for the type
of trouble you are experiencing. Then perform the simple checks and adjustments listed for that trouble.
If service should be necessary, the warranty information lists what your warranty covers and explains how to
get service.
SYMPTOM
Power
No power
Power goes off soon
after coming on.
Record-
Power on but no
ing
image on monitor.
Cannot record.
Fuzzy picture
Playback
No image appears
on connected TV's
screen.
Camcorder does not
playback in color on
connected TV.
Video noise in
image.
Cassette cannot be inserted.
Cassette won't eject.
No tape movement in Fast
Forward mode.

mode.
BATTERY DEW/CLOG

BATTERY and DEW/CLOG
indicators are flashing in sync.
Note
This unit is equipped with a microprocessor. Its performance could be adversely affected by external
electrical noise or interference. If this should happen, turn off the power and disconnect the unit from any
power sources. Then reconnect the power sources (to resume operation).

POSSIBLE CAUSE
Battery pack is not charged.
Power source is not properly
connected.
Depleted battery pack
Dew in Camcorder
Camcorder is in VCR mode.
Erasure protection hole is
covered.
Dust or other foreign matter
on lens.
Not properly focused.
Improperly connected to TV.

SUGGESTED SOLUTION
Charge battery pack sufficiently (p. 6).
Connect power source properly
(pp. 5,7,8).
Use a fully charged battery pack (p. 7).
Wait until dew dries (pp. v, 4).
Set Power switch to CAMERA (p. 11).
Slide red projection to open hole (p. 9).
Clean lens.
Adjust focus manually or set Camcorder
to Auto Focus mode (p. 16).
Reconnect properly (p. 19).
Set TV to its VIDEO input channel
(p. 19).
Call for Customer Service.
Call for Customer Service.
Use a new tape cassette (p. 9).
Check cassette positioning and reinsert
(p. 9).
Press REC START/STOP (or STOP)
button to stop tape, and try again (p. 11).
Rewind tape to desired point (p. 14).
Fast forward tape to desired point (p. 14).
Eject the tape from the Camcorder and
reload it.
