Adjusted Lobe Length

LAUs and their attached Port Channel cables effectively increase the
length of the cables from the MAU lobe ports. The cable length from the
MAU lobe port to the Main Port on the LAU, plus the longest Port
Channel cable becomes the adjusted lobe length (ALL) for that particular
lobe
If the LAU is attached to a non-powered MAU in a network without
repeaters between wiring closets, and the ALL is now the longest lobe in
the network, the ALL should be used as the "longest lobe length" in
calculating the adjusted ring length (ARL), as described below.

Adjusted Ring Length

In networks which use more than one MAU, adjusted ring length (ARL)
is the total length of the cable connecting MAUs (the main ring) minus the
shortest inter-MAU cable. Patch cables less than three feet in length are
not included in this calculation. See the diagram below.
