TROUBLESHOOTING
Incorrect operations are often
mistaken
for trouble
and
malfunctions.
If
you
think
that
there
is something wrong with this
component. check
the
points
below.
Sometimes the trouble may
l
ie
in
another component.
Investigate the
other
components and electrical appliances
being
used. If
the trouble
cannot
be
rectified even after exercising the
checks
listed
below. ask your nearest PIONEER
authorized
service center or your dea ler to carry out
repair
work.
Symptom
Power does not
com
e on
even when the POWER
switch
is pressed.
Control is not possible re-
gardless
of
w
h
at o
peration
button is pressed.
No
sound
is
prod
uced, even
when the input selector b ut-
ton is
selected.

Cause
• Power cord
is
discon nected.
Instances are
rare, but
the
problem may
be due to
the
operation
of
the protector
circuit.
Static
electricity
affected
the unit when
the
air
is
dry,
such as
in
winter.
Connections
are incorrect.
The MUTING button is pressed.
VOLUME is
turned
down.
Speaker
connecting
wires are discon-
nected from speaker
terminals.
One or
both of the
input
cords are
dis-
connected.
TAPE 2 MON ITOR button is
in
the ON
position.
The SPEAKERS button
is
OFF.
Connections are
incorrect.
The
VCR
and the selected input selector
button
are not
correct.
Station has not been tuned in to correct
frequency.
Antenna
has
not been
connected
or
has
become disconnected.
FM
reception
Accessory FM
antenna
remains
bun-
died up or it
is not
pointing
in right
direction.
Weak
broadcasting
station signals.
AM
reception
AM loop antenna is
not
pointing
in
right
direction
.
Weak broadcasting station signals.
Noise being
picked
up from this unit and
other
equipment (especially
electrical
appliances
using
motors or
fluorescent
lights).
Remedy
Connect cord securely.
Unplug
the power
cord of
the
unit
from
the AC
wall outlet,
then
plug
it
in again.
Unplug
the
power
cord of the unit from
the
AC
wall
outlet,
th~n
plug
it i
n
again.
If
static
electricity is pronounced. it is
recommended that
you
operate
the unit
using
the remote
control
unit.

and perform
con-
nections correctly.
Press
the MUTING button
to cancel the
MUTING effect.
Raise
volume.
Connect wires to terminals
securely.
Connect input
cords securely.
Press the button
again
to
the
OFF
posi-
ti
on.
Switch
the
SPEAKERS
button ON.

perform con-
nections correctly.
Press
the correct
button
.
Tune the
station
in
correctly.
Connect
the
antenna securely.
Straighen
out the antenna and
point
in
the direction which
provides
optimum
reception.
Replace accessory FM antenna with out-
door FM
antenna.
Change the direction of AM loop antenna
and find a position where
reception
is
improved.
Erect outdoor AM antenna or connect
ground
wire.
Turn off
the
appliances generating noise
or
remove
them
from vicinity of the ste-
reo equipment.
