General
Description
The Polk
Audio Model 10
Studio
Monitor is
a
sophisticated
three-way
loudspeaker
system
which
achieves unusually
high
performance in
a
moderately-priced,
full-size
bookshelf
format.
The two
year
development"
program
which
p roduced
the
Modcl
l
O has as
its major
objectives (
1)
open,
b
oxless,
three-dimensional
sound;
(2)
smooth,
accurate
frequency
response
across
the
musically
relevant audio bandwidth; (3)
consisten
tly excellent
transient response not
just in
one or two
ranges,
but
excellently
matched
across the
total
bandwidth
(30-20,000 Hz);
(
4)
nearly p
erfect
hemispherical
dispersion; (5)
stable
ster
eo and quadraphonic
imaging;
(6)
efficiency
suffi-
cient
to allow
use
with
virtually
any
high
fidelity amplification;
and
( 7)
reasonable size to
permit bookshelf mounting
if
desired.
The
Model
10
utilizes a wide-dispersion
one-inch soft
dome
high-frequency
u
nit,
two six and a
half inch
upper
bass-midrange
units,
and a
ten
inc
h
low
resonance
sub-bass
radiator.
The
electrical
crossover network used between
the
upper
bass-midrange
units
and
th
e
dome tweeter
achieves
complemen-
tar
y
12
dB/octave
slopes
with
the use of
tremendous
air-core
coils
and
precision
capacitors and
resistors.
The
acoustical c rossover at 60 Hz fro
m
the
upper bass drivers
to the
sub-bass radiator
raises
efficiency,
reduces
distortio
n,
and
extends
low-frequency
response.
Clean usable response is achieved
down
to
the in-cabinet resonance
of
the
sub-bass radiator
(approximately 22
liz).
Specifications:
Nominal
Impedance - 6 ohms
Frequency Response - 22 Hz-25,000

Recommended
Associated Amplification - 10-200 watts per
