Bend effect.
While holding down the PITCH BEND button, press either UP or DOWN until you have

PITCH BEND
Practical Examples for Applying Pitch Bend
You will find that Pitch Bend is an essential feature to use whenever you wish to create the
portamento or string bending techniques used by violin or guitar players.
1
Select a Tone such as number 6, 7, or 8 from BANK 4 (GUITAR), and turn ON Pitch
Bend/Modulation. Set the Pitch Bend Range to 1 or 2. Now, by slowly pressing the black key
at the extreme left end of the keyboard, you can create the string bending or tremolo effects
used by guitar players.
2
Select Tone number 2 (Trombone) from BANK 8 (BRASS), and turn ON Pitch Bend/Modulation.
Set the Pitch Bend Range to about 5. You can then slowly press and release the black key at
the left end of the keyboard to create the glissando effect used by trombone players.
3
Select a Tone from BANK 8 (BRASS), and turn ON Pitch Bend/Modulation. Set the Pitch Bend
Range to 1 or 2. Before playing any notes with your right hand, hold down the black key at
the left end of the keyboard. Then, immediately after you press the notes with your right
hand, release your finger from the black Pitch Bend key. This should allow you to obtain an
effect similar to the kind of expression obtained with a brass instrument.
* A setting is available which allows you to alter the response time and speed of pitch alterations you can
obtain relative to the amount of pressure you put on the key. (Bender Velocity Sensitivity:
Applying the Modulation (Vibrato) Effect
Using modulation, tiny undulations are applied to the sound's pitch to produce a vibrato effect.
The effect is indispensable for creating more realistic performances when using violin and guitar
sounds.
1
Select a Tone from BANK 4 (GUITAR) or BANK 6 (STRINGS/ORCHESTRA), and turn ON Pitch
Bend/Modulation. Then, when the notes played have peaked, press the black key that is
second from the left end to apply a vibrato effect to the guitar or violin sound.
* A setting is provided for the Modulation feature which allows you to alter the extent to which the pitch
will vary relative to the amount of pressure you put on the key. (Modulation Velocity Sensitivity:
