To shut down the Durablow TR1003 remote, slide the switch to the OFF position. This will turn off the system completely and disable both the remote transmitter and the receiver box. The OFF mode also acts as a safety "LOCK-OUT" to prevent unintended operation, which is recommended when the house is unattended for a long time.

We recently purchased a house with durable tr1003/1004 fireplace. Can they be turned on without using the remote?

The Durablow TR1003 remote control kit is designed to replace traditional wall switches, which suggests that the fireplace could still be operated manually if a direct wired connection exists. However, the provided information does not explicitly confirm whether the fireplace can be turned on without the remote.
