Enjoying the
surround sound
(Virtual Surround)
You can use the Virtual Surround function to give stereo sources a surround
sound effect and monaural sources a simulated stereo effect.
To enjoy this feature, you must connect a stereo system or stereo TV to the
LINE-1 OUT or LINE-2 OUT jacks.

To cancel the Virtual Surround function
Press VIRTUAL SURROUND repeatedly until the VIRTUAL SURROUND
knob lights off.
Tip
• You can also set the Virtual Surround effect using the MENU option.
Notes
• This function is available only when the sound is reproduced on a stereo TV (or
other stereo audio equipment). If the connected TV or other audio equipment is
monaural or simulated stereo, or if you connected your TV using the aerial cable
only, you cannot get a clear effect.
• We recommend that you do not use the surround effect function of this unit and
that of the connected TV (or other audio equipment) at the same time. If you do so,
the function may not work properly because the effects overlap each other.

Additional Operations
Press VIRTUAL SURROUND repeatedly to
select the effect you want.
You can select CINEMA or MUSIC as an
effect. Select VIRTUAL STEREO when
listening to a monaural source for a
simulated stereo effect.
When using the any effect, the VIRTUAL
SURROUND knob lights up.
Turn VIRTUAL SURROUND to adjust the level of the effect selected.
Press VIRTUAL SURROUND repeatedly to select the effect you want.
Press ?// to adjust the level of the effect selected.
