This section will guide you through the installation of your external drive case. Please
read through the instructions carefully and complete each step in the order listed.
NOTE: Before installing the hard disk in the case, make sure that you have properly
configured your hard disk according to your hard disk manufacturer's specifications.
1. Make sure that the external case is not plugged in and that you are grounded.
2. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the two screws from the back of the external

until the caddy is free from the case.
3. Connect the case's power connector to your hard drive's power port.
4. Plug one end of the Serial ATA cable into an open port on your computer. Plug the
other end into the port on the case.
5. Gently place the hard drive in the caddy, making sure that the screwholes in the hard
drive are aligned with the screw holes in the caddy. Secure the hard drive in place
using the provided screws.
6. Gently slide the caddy back into the aluminum case and re-attach the caddy to the
case using the screws you removed in Step 2.

When the new drive is connected, it will appear as an icon on the bottom right of your
screen. You can double-click the icon for information on the drive. The device will also
appear under your "My Computer" window. You can now use the drive as you would any
other device on your system.
When you want to remove your external case, first make sure that there is no activity on
the hard drive contained in the case. Do not remove or shut down the case if the green
activity LED is on. When you are certain the hard drive has "spun down", right-click the
drive icon and click on "Safely remove device." When the icon is removed from your
screen, turn off the power to the external drive by pushing the power button on the back
and disconnect the Serial ATA cable.
