General information

■ Phone functions

The Nokia 6230i phone provides many functions that are practical for daily use,
such as a calendar, clock, alarm clock, radio, music player, and built-in camera.
You can personalize your phone with Nokia Xpress-on™ color covers. Your phone
also supports the following functions:
• Enhanced data rates for GSM evolution (EDGE), see "EGPRS," page 60.
• Extensible hypertext markup language (XHTML) browser, see "Web," page 88.
• E-mail application, see "E-mail," page 41.
• Instant messaging, see "Instant messaging," page 36.
• Presence-enhanced contacts, see "My presence," page 49.
• Push to talk (PTT), see "Push to talk," page 72.
• J2ME
TM
(Java 2 Platform Micro Edition), see "Applications," page 84.
• Bluetooth technology, see "Bluetooth wireless technology," page 58.
• Multimedia card to extend the memory capacity of your phone to store
images and video clips.

■ Access codes

Security code

The security code (5 to 10 digits) helps to protect your phone against
unauthorized use. The preset code is 12345. Change the code, and keep the new
code secret in a safe place separate from your phone. To change the code, and to
set the phone to request the code, see "Security settings," page 64.
If you enter an incorrect security code five times in succession, the phone ignores
further entries of the code. Wait for 5 minutes, and enter the code again.
PIN, PIN2, module PIN, and signing PIN codes
The PIN (personal identification number) code (4 to 8 digits) helps to protect your
SIM card against unauthorized use. The PIN code is usually supplied with the SIM
