Viewing Closed Captions
The unit decodes and displays the closed captionsthat are broadcastwith certain TV shows. These captions are usually subtitles for the
hearing impairedor foreign languagetranslations.All VCRs record the closed caption signal from televisionprograms, so home-recorded
video tapes also provide closed captions. Most prerecordedcommercialvideo tapes provideclosed captionsas well. Check for the closed
captionsymbolin your televisionscheduleand onthe tape'spackaging:l_l.
Note:
TheCaptionfeaturedoesnot workwith YPbPr,VGA, O VI.
Notall theprograms and videoswilloffer closedcaptioning.Pleaselook for the[_ symbolto ensurethat captionswillbe shown.

The ClosedCaptionbroadcastscan be viewedin two modes:CAPTIONand TEXT.Foreachmode,four channelsare available.
The [CAPTION]modeshowssubscriptsof dialoguesand commentariesofTV dramasand news programswhileallowinga clear view
of thepicture.
The [TEXT] mode displays various information over the picture (such as TV program schedule, weather forecast, etc.) that is
independentof theTVprograms.
