    Make sure you have GPS activated on your device. If you have a TomTom LINK device installed in your vehicle, we recommend to connect your TomTom PRO 82xx device to the TomTom LINK installed in your car and to retrieve the GPS signal from the LINK device.

    What's on the TomTom Navigation app screen The map view The map view is shown when you have no planned route. Your actual location is shown as soon as your PRO 82xx has found your GPS location. You can use map view in the same way as you might look at a traditional paper map. You can move around the map using gestures, and zoom using the zoom buttons.

    Advanced Lane Guidance helps you prepare for motorway exits and junctions by showing the correct driving lane for your planned route. As you approach an exit or junction, the lane you need is shown on the screen and in the instruction panel.

    Along route When a route has been planned, you can select this option to search along your route for a specific type of location, for example, petrol stations. When prompted, enter the type of location and then select it in the right-hand column to carry out the search. Near destination When a route has been planned, you can select this option to use your destination as the centre for your search.

    When you select an address from the list of search results, you can choose to show it on the map, add a crossroad or plan a route to that chosen location. To get an exact address you can add the house number.

    Postcodes for areas Countries such as Germany, France and Belgium use this type of postcode. If you search using a postcode for an area, your results include all the streets in a city district, the whole town, or the villages within that postcode. You may get results from multiple countries if you enter a postcode for an area.
