Yakima logo right side up in relation to the clamps. Insert two bolts into the upper channel of each side of your SlimShady, and put your clamps onto the bolts. Then place a lock washer and nut on each bolt, and tighten loosely by hand.

5.25 +/- .25 Nm With the assistance of a friend carefully place the awning onto your vehicle with the clamps around the crossbars. Then completely tighten the clamps to the crossbars. Unzip the cover slowly to avoid zipper snags. Unfasten the velcro straps, and unroll the awning.

Fold the side supports out. Twist the tubing to unlock, and adjust their lengths. Thread the thin rod into the recieving holes, then twist the tubing in the opposite direction to lock in the length. Fold down the front supports. Twist the tubing to unlock, and adjust their lengths then twist the tubing in the opposite direction to lock in the length.

Use the velcro straps at the edges of the awning to stretch the shade tightly across its frame. Position the stakes about 12” out and to the side of the base of front support. Drive it into the ground at a 45 degree angle. Hook the looped end of the rope around the stake, and slide the guy rope tensioner up until the rope is under tension.

CLOSE & SECURE Twist the tubing to unlock, and retract the side supports. Fold the side supports back into the frame. Secure by pressing them into place. Release the tensioner, and remove the stakes. Twist the tubing to unlock, and retract the front supports.

Tuck the rope alongside the front supports, pull the fabric toward you, and tightly roll up the awning. Place the stakes into their bag. You can zip it up into the protective cover if you wish. Press the awning firmly against the stowed side supports, and replace the protective cover.
REMOVAL Remove the SlimShady. Fully open both clamps. IMPORTANT WARNINGS • Remove your awning and Yakima Rack before entering an automated car wash. • Do not use fuel burning, oxygen consuming devices under the awning. This includes: candles, gas lanterns, kerosene lamps, stoves, cooking and heating appliances.
Upon contacting Yakima, a technician will provide the original retail purchaser with appropriate instructions for returning the product. The original retail purchaser is responsible for the cost of shipping product to Yakima. In order to receive any remedy under this warranty (either from a Yakima dealer, or from Yakima directly), proof of purchase in the form of an original purchase invoice or receipt is strictly required.
