Product description

MS-258 II is a handy quick test which can be used universally for
hobby as well as school and work. By means of the "voltage testing
function", non-contact detection is possible to determine whether
alternating voltage between 70 and 440 VAC is present in insulated
cables or whether a cable / device has been connected to the
mains. The indication is by optical (LED) and acoustic (buzzer)
means. In addition, the MS-258 II has been equipped with a metal
detection sensor which can be used easily to detect metallic
objects, such as cables or nails, in walls and ceilings. With the con-
tinuity check an easy and fast check of cabels, bulbs and compo-
nents for continuity is possible.

Scope of Delivery

The scope of delivery includes the Multisensor MS-258 II with two
batteries of type LR-44 and detailed operating instructions.

Safety instructions

Damage due to non-compliance with these instruc-
tions renders the warranty void. We accept no liabil-
ity for consequential damage resulting from non-
compliance with these operating instructions.

Detecting metals
- Press the button (4) and turn the sensitivity controller (3) to maxi-
mum sensitivity (clockwise to stop) => the LED (2) will start to
flash and the buzzer will be audible.
- Keep button (4) pressed and turn the sensitivity controller (3)
counter clockwise until the LED and buzzer go off. Now the max-
imum possible sensitivity of the device has been set. Please
make sure you are not in the vicinity of metal parts during the
adjustment as this could affect the result.
- Keep the button (4) pressed and slowly move the metal sensor (1)
from various directions across the surface / object to be checked.
- The MS-258 II indicates the presence of metals by flashing LED
(2) and slow beeping of the buzzer.
- For exact localisation of the metal object, keep the button (4)
pressed and slowly turn the sensitivity controller (3) anti clock-
wise, and scan the surface again until the position is determined
precisely. In this way you can determine the precise position of
power cables and metal water pipes in order to prevent unneces-
sary damage whilst drilling holes, for example.
Please keep in mind that cables, nails et cetera cannot
be located in walls which have been "shielded" with
metal foil (frequently on glass fibre insulation mats).
Moreover, water pipes made of plastic cannot be
detected either.
The depth, in which the device is able to detect metals,
depends on the type of metal as well as of the size of
the object. Larger objects can be detected in larger
depths.
