Never direct the steam towards people. • Always keep the iron in a safe dry place, standing on its end. • Never immerse the iron in water. • Some parts of the iron have been slightly greased and, as a result, the iron may slightly smoke when switched on for the first time.
  • Page 5 • Sort the laundry out according to ironing temperature first: wool with wool, cotton with cotton, etc. • The iron heats up quicker than it cools down. Therefore, start ironing the articles requiring the lowest temperature such as those made of synthetic fibres.
  • Page 6 Set the steam control (B) to position O (= no steam) (fig. 2). - Fill the filling cup (M) with water (max. 200 ml). Hold the iron in a tilted position and pour the water into the filling aperture (fig. 3) to the maximum level.
  • Page 7 • For type HI 342 (“Auto off” version) only: if the appliance is left motionless for a while, it will switch off automatically and the red pilot light (O) will start to blink. Pick up the iron or move it lightly when this occurs. Refer to paragraph “Auto off” for details.
  • Page 8 Ironing without steam - Set the steam control (B) to position O (= no steam) (fig. 2). • To switch on the iron, refer to paragraph “Setting the temperature”. Steam-ironing (see table) • Ensure that there is enough water in the water reservoir.
