  • Page 9 adJUstMents & operation setting the spindle speed Setting the correct spindle speed will depend on a variety of variables including the size, diameter, and material of the workpiece. It will also depend on the stage of the turning process. The machine is equipped with a reference chart on the headstock.

For advanced users, this lathe allows the spindle to be locked in place at 36 evenly spaced 10° intervals. There are 3 threaded holes, and 1 unthreaded hole on the spindle casting.

    operation & Maintenance tUrning tips 1. Start and stop the wood lathe in the lowest speed setting. Use the lowest speed when doing rough cutting. 2. Select the right speed for the size of workpiece you are turning. Use lower speeds for large diameter workpieces (over 4”), use mid range speeds for medium diameter workpieces (2-4”) and use the higher speeds for small diameter workpieces (under 2”).
