    GFU27 (403-473 MHz) is allowed to be used in the following countries, either on licence free channels or on channels where the operation requires a licence. More detailed information is available at the local frequency management authority.

    SATEL is the leading European manufacturer of radio modems. SATEL radio modems have been certified in most European countries and also in many non-European countries. GFU27 is a variant of the standard SATELLINE-3AS-TR1 radio modem. It has been designed specially for use with GPS equipment.

    1 GFU27 RADIO DATA MODEM Figure 1.1 GFU27 radio data modem GFU27 consists of a radio modem module (SATELLINE-M3-TR1) and a radio interface adapter board, both enclosed into a plastics housing. It acts as a plug-in unit for Leica Geosystems GPS devices.

    Figure 2.2 Led indicators 2.3 RF interface The GFU27 has a single TNC female connector with impedance of 50 Ohm. The frequency band of the modem is tuned at the factory. The user can change the operating frequency of the radio modem afterwards within the tuning range of 70 MHz. Of course, all local regulations set forth by the authorities must be taken into consideration.

    *) Tested with Pacific Crest PDL products. 3.2 Configuration The configuration of GFU27 modems is made by using the SATEL Configuration Manager or in programming mode with a terminal program. Please use GEV171 programming cable to connect the GFU27 modem to the serial interface of the PC.
