I’m getting a chirpy noise in play mode. Otari Mtr-12 1/2” 4 track! Sounds like the reel table maybe a bearing??

A chirpy noise in play mode on an Otari MTR-10II Series could be caused by the tape lifters not fully retracting or operating correctly. If the tape lifters are partially engaged during playback, they can cause the tape to scrape or vibrate, producing a chirping sound.

@Mr. Anderson Thank you, if that is the case I’m not sure how to adjust the lifters to fully disengage. Some of the time the chirp doesn’t start until the tape has played a minute or so, and it’s difficult to tell where the originates. It sounds like it’s coming from the reel on the right, when you’re facing the deck, it takes the tape when playing. I’m sure a tape expert could identify the issue easily. That’s not me unfortunately. BB
