Replacing a Disk Drive

The system will notify you of an internal disk failure through the CLI or an
SNMP trap. If you receive an e-mail notification of a internal disk failure (or
potential failure), consult the ARX SNMP Reference, Internal Disks, on page
1-7.

WARNING
Static electricity can damage switch components. Be sure to wear antistatic
straps before handling disk drives.
To remove a disk drive:
1. Ensure that the front bezel has been removed. For instructions, see
Installing and Removing the Front Bezel, on page A-5.
2. Press in on the green latch at the front of the hard drive carrier.
3. Pull out on the black lever to slide the carrier from the system.
4. Remove the four screws that attach the hard drive to the drive
carrier. Lift the drive from the carrier and store it in an anti-static
bag.
5. Remove the hard drive from its wrapper and place it on an antistatic
surface.
6. With the drive circuit-side down, position the connector end of the
drive so that it is facing the rear of the drive carrier.
