Local and Remote LAN ports
The COM600 computer has by default two LAN ports, a local port (LAN 1) and a remote
port (LAN 2), see Figure 4.1-1.
There are two firewall profiles: Private (home and work) and Public. The Private profile
is intended for a local substation LAN with substation protocols and SAB600 configur-
ation allowed. The Public profile is intended for remote LAN connection.
You cannot pre-configure a specific profile for a specific network adapter. Therefore,
you must select the correct profile when configuring COM600 and connecting it to the
network. The operating system tries to identify the connected network based on the
configured default gateway. If the default gateway is found, you can select the firewall
profile to be used for the network in Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center.
If no default gateway is configured or found, the network is considered unidentified. For
unidentified networks the firewall profile is selected based on the local security policy
settings. By default unidentified networks use the Public firewall profile. All unidentified
networks use the same profile.
To change the profile used for unidentified networks:
1. Select Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy.
2. Browse to Network List Manager Policies and modify the Location type in the
Unidentified Networks properties.
For more information about firewall configuration, see Microsoft Windows 7 Firewall
documentation.
