Tempest FX offers the same powerful technology that our D1-A customers rely on each game day. In order to get the most out of your new Tempest FX system, please take a few moments to read this manual completely so that you better understand the operation of this product.
Number of Users — The Tempest FX system supports up to 12 coaches in the press box and an unlimited number of Wireless BeltPacks. Each Tempest FX BaseStation can support up to 5 Wireless BeltPacks operating in normal, full duplex communication.

Antenna System The Tempest FX system comes with two antenna options: an Omni-directional (whip) Antenna and a Directional Antenna. It is recommended that you use the Directional Antenna System in conjunction with your Remote Transceiver.

Tempest Wired Interface CoachComm’s Tempest FX Press Box Main Unit comes pre-configured and easy to use with a very low learning curve. The main unit’s interconnectivity between the Tempest Wired Interface and the Tempest FX BaseStation(s) is pre-wired at CoachComm. Once you have completed the system setup procedures listed under Equipment Setup (pages 10–11) your main unit is ready to use.

— The Tempest FX BaseStation has two programming ports. The “USB” port is used to update BaseStation firmware released by CoachComm. This is performed using a USB to USB-B cable. The “Program” port is used to pair Wireless BeltPacks to BaseStations. This is performed using a standard 1/8” to 1/8” mini-stereo cable.

Tempest FX Wireless System CoachComm, LLC Game Day Tips Avoid surprises and know your surroundings — When possible, always conduct a site visit to the venues you will be visiting. This will help you prepare for proper antenna placement and any work-arounds that may be needed due to existing conditions. If a site visit is not possible, contact your opponent and find out as much as you can about the size of the booth, power availability, and the type of windows in the booth.
CoachComm, LLC Tempest FX Wireless System Troubleshooting Process of Elimination When it comes to troubleshooting issues, it is all about the process of elimination. For example, if a noise or static is present on the FX system, it is likely one component causing the issue, and everyone else just hears it. Narrowing down the culprit is key to solving the issue.

CoachComm Tempest FX products are warranted by CoachComm, LLC to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two years from the date of sale. The sole obligation of CoachComm, LLC during the warranty period is to provide, without charge, parts and labor necessary to remedy covered defects appearing in products returned prepaid to CoachComm, LLC.

Digital Device Statement a) CoachComm Tempest FX Systems have been tested and found to comply with the limits for Class A digital devices, pursuant to Part 15 of the Rules and Regulations of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (the FCC). These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment.
Whip Antenna supplied by CoachComm, or the optional Directional Antenna available from CoachComm, whichever of the two is used with the Tempest FX system. If used, the Directional Antenna must be mounted and aimed so that people do not obstruct the antenna’s view of the sideline and the playing field.
