supply static a i r p r e s s u r e for the altimeter, the a i r -
speed indicator, and the vertical speed indicator. A
static system drain valve is located on the fuselage
bottom skin below the tail cone a c c e s s door. An alter-
,
nate static p r e s s u r e s o u r c e valve is installed under the
left flight panel above the pilot's left knee.
STALL WARNING SYSTEM
The electrical stall warning system uses a vane-actuated
switch, installed in the left wing leading edge, t o energize
a stall warning horn located in the cabin. The stall warn-
ing switch is adjusted t o provide a u r a l warning a t 5 t o 10
MPR before the actual stall is reached and will remain on
until the aircraft flight attitude is changed.
EMERGENCY LOCA"FOR TRANSMITTER
(if installed)
The Emergency Locator Transinitter (E LT) i s located in
the forward portion of the tailcone and is accessible by
removing the radio a c c e s s panel on the left side of the
fuselage. The emergency locator transmitter meets the
requirements of FAR 91.52 and is automatically acti-
vated by a longitudinal force of 5 t o 7 g s s . The ELT
transmits a d i s t r e s s si-gnal on both 121.5 MHz and
243,
8
MHz for a period of from 48 hours in low temperature
a r e a s and up to 180 llouss in high temperature a r e a s .
The unit operates on a self-contained battery.
The battery has a useful life of four y e a r s . However
to comply with F A A regulations
it
must be replaced after
two y e a r s of shelf life. The battery should a l s o be r e -
placed if the transmitter has been used in a n emergency
situation or if accumulated t e s t time exceeds one hour.
The replacement date i s marked on the transmitter label
On the unit itself is a t h r e e position selector switch
placarded "OFF", "ARM", "ON".
The "ARM" position
i s provided t o s e t the unit t o the automatic position s o that
it
w i l l
transmit only after impact and will continue t o
transmit until the battery i s drained to depletion or until
the switch
is
manually moved to the "OFF" posi-tion. The
"ARM" position i s selected when the transmitter i s in-
stalled at the factory and t h e switch should remain
