Questions and answers
All hydraulic fluid has leak out of the ram. It took about a year. It is no longer useable. How do I repair the leak? (10 Ton manual log splitter)
To repair a hydraulic fluid leak in a Central Machinery 10 Ton manual log splitter (part number 62291), follow these steps:
1. Identify the source of the leak – Check around the cylinder, piston rod, oil plug, control valve, and hydraulic lines.
2. Tighten connections – If the leak is from a loose fitting or oil plug, tighten it securely.
3. Replace damaged parts – If the leak is from a damaged cylinder piston, control valve, or internal seals, have a qualified service technician repair or replace the faulty components.
4. Purge air from the system – Air in the hydraulic system can cause fluid to leak. Extend the ram fully, remove the oil plug to top off oil, then fully retract the ram to push out air.
5. Check for cracks – Inspect the hydraulic cylinder and hoses for cracks or visible damage. Replace any damaged parts.
Do not operate the splitter with a known leak. Always follow safety precautions.
