It is recommended that for a 120 V installation, you have at least one 20 amp outlet per machine available within 6 ft. / 1,8 m of the Vitamix. 220 V and 100 V units require a dedicated line. - Page 5 IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR SAFE USE • The Vitamix blender’s U.S.A. power cord comes equipped with a three-prong (grounding) plug which mates with a standard three-prong wall outlet (Figure A). This cord will vary for countries outside of the United States of America.

Blending Tips Place liquids and soft foods in the container first, solid items and ice last. Although not necessary for processing, you may want to cut or break food into smaller pieces for more precise measuring of ingredients. 2. As a general rule, compared to other blenders, you do not need as much ice to make an equally frozen drink in the PBS. - Page 8 When the thermal protector shuts the motor off, review your processing techniques and your instructions. Your recipes may be too thick or have too much material in them. Consider adding more liquid and consult Vitamix Customer Service or your local Vitamix Distributor for further assistance.

Co n t r o l PA n e l Owners Control Panel Blender Speed Control Shave Only Blend Only Pre-Set Programs Pre-Set Specialty Drink On/Off Power Switch: Located on the back of the machine the On/Off switch controls the power to the PBS. - Page 10 Co n t r o l PA n e l Pre-Set Specialty Drink Buttons: These buttons, A and B, are also programmed blending cycles designed for specialty drinks. See page 9 for instructions on using the Pre-Set Specialty Drink buttons. See page 12 for information on custom programming these buttons.

“MODE”. 2. Press button 1 then B. 3. Press the Vitamix Logo button three more times until the display panel reads “TO MODIFY ENTER 1 THRU B”. 4. Press the button (1-4 or A, B) you wish to adjust. - Page 13 After the desired changes have been made press the START( )/STOP( ) button to save the changes, then press the Vitamix Logo button to return to blending and test the adjustments made on Button 1. Suggestions for changing the blending time for buttons that are used for multiple batches of the same drink.
- Page 14 Access the Owners Controls (press the Vitamix Logo) and press the Pre-Set button 1 and B when the display window says “MODE”. Press the Vitamix logo two more times to reveal the instructions on resetting the Pre-Set buttons. Press and hold the button 4 until the Display Window reads “RESTORING PLEASE WAIT”: The Pre-Set buttons are now reset to the original factory settings.

Installing the Drain Hose Kit The drain hose kit contains one 6-foot drain line and hose connector, three 90 degree elbows, six hose clamps and four 4-inch hose sections. When routing to a sink, bucket, or similar receptacle, use the drain hose kit to eliminate possible kinking of the drain hose. Kinking can be caused by a sharp bend created by the edge of a counter. -

m AC h I n e ASS e m B ly Co n t r o l PA n e l Cleaning the Components After removing the contents in the ice bin, an initial cleaning and sanitizing will be necessary before adding ice. Make sure the drain hose is connected and there is power to the machine before cleaning the ice bin. - Page 19 Installing the Ice Bin Liner and Ice Bin Lid The ice bin liner rests inside the ice bin and helps separate and distribute the ice cubes for shaving. The ice bin liner may have shifted during shipping and unpacking and should rest level inside the ice bin. To remove the ice bin liner, simply grasp the liners by the side and lift out of the ice bin.

Blade Assembly Blade Agitator Assembly: The blade assembly includes a precision-hardened stainless steel blade with enclosed double sealed steel ball bearings for maximum durability. The rugged blade assembly literally explodes molecules of food and ice in the container, helping every batch to homogenize more effectively. -

DO NOT reach into container while machine is running. WARNING Electrical Shock Hazard. Disconnect power before cleaning machine. Failure to follow instructions can cause death or electrical shock. Removing Ice from the Ice Bin With the machine off and unplugged remove the ice from the ice bin.
- Page 24 Empty container and repeat. To rinse, fill ¾ of the container with warm (110° F / 43° C) water. Do not add soap. Return container to the motor base. Use the Start/Stop button to run the blender for 30 seconds. Empty the container and repeat until all soap is gone.
- Page 25 • Be sure to wring excess water out of cloth or sponge when cleaning around the controls or any electrical part. • To prolong polycarbonate container life, Vitamix recommends using soaps with a low PH balance, such as liquid dishwashing detergent (Ivory Liquid®).
