Extended Traction Control (XTC)
The ESP is equipped in all engines with the newly-
developed XTC (Extended Traction Control), which
provides improved traction when accelerating out
of corners. This comes into its own, in particular, in
the powerful engines such as, e.g. the A 250 and
A 220 CDI.

Electric parking brake

The electric parking brake, which is already used in
several model series, is installed as standard on the
new A-Class and acts on the wheels of the rear axle.
It makes use of a brake caliper with electric parking
brake function.
The electric parking brake is operated via the elec-
tric parking brake switch, which is located on the
left of the instrument panel underneath the light
switch.
