using the repeater with greater communication range
than they would achieve alone.
Setting these separate frequencies is accomplished by
setting Menus 34 and 35. First, you will need to set
the offset amount, which is the difference between the
receive and transmit frequencies. The transceiver can
accept offset values from 0.000 to 399.995 MHz.
In VFO Mode, select Menu 34. Enter the offset value
using the number keys on the DTMF microphone, or
by using the "CHA+/CHA-" or "VOL+/VOL-" keys.
Select the offset direction using Menu 35. Using the
"CHA+/CHA-"
"RPT+" (positive offset, the transmit frequency is
higher than the receive frequency), "RPT-" (the
transmit frequency is lower than the receive
frequency), or "SING" (no offset, only a single
frequency is used).
For example: In VFO mode, enter a frequency such as
450MHz, and set the offset to 5MHz. If RPT Type is
"+RPT", then the receive frequency is 450MHz, and
the transmit frequency is 455MHz; if RPT Type is
"–RPT", then the receive frequency is 450MHz, and
the transmit frequency is 445MHz; if RPT Type is
"SING", receive and transmit frequency are both
450MHz.
Note: Offset frequency setting is only available in VFO mode.
It cannot be set in already programmed memory channels.
