Seat Canvas Adjustment
You are able to adjust the tension of the seat sling by
loosening the seat rail screws and re-adjusting the
velcro position. The seat rail screws must then be re-
tightened. (This feature is only available on deluxe
models)
9
Legrest Adjustment
For optimum comfort it is important to attain the
correct leg position. The footrests have been designed
so that they can be extended into a number of fixed
positions by releasing and adjusting the allen head bolts
and nuts. This adjusts into a number of different desired
positions.
10
Folding the Wheelchair
The Enigma wheelchair has been designed with an easy
fold mechanism. To fold the chair, ensure that the
legrests are locked in position and that the plastic
footplates are flipped up. Release the back canvas
velcro base from the seat and then by holding the front
and rear edge of the seat sling pull the seat in an
upwards motion. The wheelchair will naturally fold up.
11
Using the Stepper Tube
Use the stepper tube to raise the front castors (when
mounting a kerb for example). To use, push down on
the stepper tube with a foot. Do not raise the front
castors by pushing down on the push handles, as this
could result in damage to the wheelchair.

Using the Wheelchair in a Vehicle
The Enigma Aluminium XS wheelchair has been
tested to Wheelchair Crash Test standard ISO 7176/19
using restraints from Koller Engineering.
Wherever possible the wheelchair occupant should use
the vehicle's fitted seats and the wheelchair should be
folded away and placed safely in the luggage
compartment of the vehicle or restrained.
If it is not feasible to transfer to the vehicle's seat then
the Enigma aluminium XS wheelchair may be used as
a chair whilst the vehicle is moving with the necessary
restraints and with the wheelchair facing the front of
the vehicle. Medicare Technology recommends that
the following types of restraints be used:
a) Koller
Engineering
restraints for the front of the wheelchair,
b) Koller Engineering karabiner rear restraints
for the rear of the wheelchair,
c) Koller Engineering 3-point harness for the
occupant restraint.
The lap belt should be worn across the front of the
pelvis, with the webbing fed between the
backposts and armrest.
The upper torso belt should be worn over the
shoulder. The belt should be worn as firm as
possible without being uncomfortable. Ensure the
webbing is not twisted.
For more information on restraints please contact
Medicare Technology. Below is a diagram illustrating
the recommended positions for the restraints. The
securement points for the restraints are marked on the
wheelchair using the symbol below.

Tyre pressure and inflation
The
Enigma aluminium XS wheelchair comes
complete with pneumatic tyres. The tyres should be
inflated with a manually operated pump and use a
standard car tyre air valve. Note that under no
circumstances should a powered or compressed air
pump should be used.
For optimum performance, the tyres should be inflated
to the following maximum pressures:
55psi (4.0 bar) for 24" self propel wheels
40psi (2.8 bar) for 12 ½" transit wheels
The Enigma aluminium XS wheelchair range is also
available with solid tyres and mag wheels. For more
information on these please contact Medicare
Technology.
