Gently tap the cartridge holder a few times so any air
bubbles rise up towards the needle

Check to see if drops of insulin come out of the
needle tip

Once you have seen insulin coming out of the
needle tip, you have completed the safety test
IMPORTANT
- You may have to perform the safety test several times before insulin is
seen
What if there is still no insulin coming out of needle tip after several tries?

Change your needle
- Remove your needle (see Step 7)
- Attach a new needle (see Step 3)

Check the insulin cartridge
- Has it been inserted properly? (see Step 1)
- Is it damaged? (see Step 1)

Repeat the safety test
If there is still no insulin coming out, do not use your JuniorSTAR
back-up injection method and contact your Diabetes Team
