Test
the Pinch
Roller to
see that
it
spins
freely.
Pinch Roller
Pressure
Adjustment

Set
the Function Lever
to
FORWARD.
Check
for
0.1
mm
clearance
between
the
lower
end
of the
Pinch Roller
and
the Capstan Shaft
when
the
upper
end
of the
Pinch
Roller contacts the
Capstan
Shaft.

Bend
"A"

with
a pair
of
pliers as
needed
to
obtain
the
correct
spacing.

Place the
Function
Lever
in
the
FORWARD
po-
sition.
Make
a
loop
in
a piece
of
string
and
attach
the spring
scale
around
the base
of
the
Pinch
Roller
Shaft.
See
Fig.
4-24. Pull
the
scale in
the
direction indicated
by
the arrow.
Check
the read-
ing
when
the
Pinch
Roller
just leaves
the
Capstan
Shaft.
It
should be
between
1.5
and
2.2
kg.

1.
Set the
Function Lever
to the
STOP
mode.
Make
sure that
the switching
button
of the micro-
switch
(SW
4,
under
the
chassis,
beneath t
Function
Lever)
is
in
the center of the
Cam. See
Fig.
4-25.
Note,
the
microswitch
(SW
4) turns
off
with
the
pushbutton
pressed.
2.
If it
does not operate
normally, loosen the
mount-
ing
screw
and
readjust the position
of the Micro-
switch
Assembly
within the
slot
of the Micro-
switch
Mounting
Bracket
After adjustment,
apply
a suitable
locking
compound
to the
mounting
screw.
3.
Coat
the
Cam
contacting
surface
with
grease.
