Your coffee maker must be cleaned when you begin to notice excessive
steaming or the brewing time increases considerably. This condition is caused
by a build-up of lime and mineral deposits from your water. If the pumping action
stops before all the water has been pumped out of the machine, the appliance
requires cleaning.
The frequency of cleaning depends on the hardness of water used. The
following table gives a suggested cleaning schedule.
TYPE OF WATER

To clean your coffee maker using vinegar:

1. Pour four cups of undiluted white household vinegar into the water reservoir.
2. Place the permanent filter into the removable basket and close the lid.
3. Place the empty decanter on the warming plate. Make sure to accurately place
the decanter on the warming plate to avoid the possibility of overflow.
4. Start the brew cycle:
For Models:
• BVSTDCDW12B, BVSTDCDW12R and BVSTDCDW12W
a. Push the ON/OFF switch to ON.
• BVSTDCDWX20B and BVSTDCDWX20R
b. Push the "Colar Ahora" button.
c. When all the vinegar has flowed into the decanter, turn the coffee maker off
by pushing the "Apagado" button and let the vinegar stand for 30 minutes.
d. Repeat Steps 1 – 4b.
e. Discard the vinegar. Fill the decanter with tap water and pour it into the
water reservoir.
f. Place the decanter on the warming plate and begin the brew cycle.
g. Discard the water in the decanter and turn the coffee maker off by pushing
the "Apagado" button. If necessary, repeat steps d – f to flush all traces of
vinegar from the coffee maker.
