QUADRALIZER
CIRCUIT
With the
Pioneer's exclusive
QUADRALIZER circuit provid-
ed
in
the QX-8000,
a
2-channel stereo program
source
can
be
presented
as
a 4-channel stereo program
in either MATRIX or
PHASE SHIFT
system.
You
can select either system by
the
QUADRALIZER select switch.
MATRIX
SYSTEM
In this
system, the
left
and
right
channel signals are converted
into four
channel signals
by
means
of
the matrix circuit
as
shown
in Fig.ll.
Signals
appearing
for
each channel are
as
follows:

As
just
described, right
channel signal component
is added to
the left
channel signal,
and
left
channel signal component
is
also added
to
the right
channel signal. The
feature
may
sacrifice somewhat stereophonic effect and separation, but
sound dispersion is excellent
and
vivid
stereo
effect
will
be
obtained. Therefore, this arrangement may
be best suited for
reproduction of
musical performance such
as
a quintet or of
popular music.
PHASE SHIFT
SYSTEM
This
system, newly
developed
by
pIONEER, converts
a
2-channel stereo signal into a
4-channel stereo signal. As
shown
in
Fig.12, the 2-channel stereo signal is
reproduced
through both
speakers
(CH.
1
and CH. B)
in
the
front.
Also, both left
and right
channel signals are applied
to
the
MATRIX circuit to obtain
the signal difference,which is then
applied
to
the
phase
shifter to provide
a phase difference of
90"
between

arrangement, the

the left-side
speaker (CH. 2) in the rear, and the

system provides normal stereophonic sound

persion

the front,

emphasized

speakers
in.the
rear,
it
may be best suited
for
a
high degree
of reproduction of
vocal solo or performance of
a
full-member orchestra.
