Problem
The base unit beeps.
The speakerphone is not

12.3.3 Handset
Problem
The handset does not
work.
The handset display is
blank.
The handset will not turn
ON.
w is flashing.
The handset does not
ring.
The batteries should be
charging but the battery
icon does not change.
A busy tone is heard when
{C} is pressed.
Cause & Solution
L Recording paper/ink film has run out. Press {STOP} to stop the
beeps and install paper/ink film.
L Use the speakerphone in a quiet room.
L If you have difficulty hearing the other party, adjust the volume.
L The called handset is too far from the base unit.
L The called handset is in use. Try again later.
L You have not subscribed to Caller ID service.
L The caller requested not to send his/her information.
L Depending on the service of the local telephone company, caller
information may not be displayed on the handset in TEL/FAX
mode. In this case, change the TEL/FAX ring setting to 1 (feature
#78 on page 62).
L Do not pause for over 1 minute on the handset or 3 minutes on the
base unit while searching.
Cause & Solution
L Make sure that the batteries are installed correctly (page 18).
L Fully charge the batteries (page 20).
L Clean the charge contacts and charge again (page 20).
L Turn the handset power OFF, then ON (page 21).
L Check that the power cord is connected properly.
L The handset has not been registered to the base unit. Register the
handset (page 73).
L Re-install the batteries (page 18) and fully charge them.
L The handset is not turned ON. Turn the power ON (page 21).
L Make sure that the batteries are installed correctly (page 18).
L Fully charge the batteries (page 20).
L Clean the charge contacts and charge again (page 20).
L The handset is not registered to the base unit. Register it (page
73).
L The handset is too far from the base unit. Move closer.
L The power cord is not connected. Check the connections.
L You are using the handset or base unit in an area with high
electrical interference. Locate the handset and base unit away from
interference sources, such as antenna and mobile phones.
L The night mode feature is turned ON. Turn it OFF (page 67).
L The ringer volume is turned OFF. Adjust it (page 22).
L Clean the charge contacts and charge again (page 20).
L The power cord is disconnected. Plug in the power cord.
L The handset is too far from the base unit. Move closer and try
again.
L The base unit or another handset is on an outside call. Wait for the
other user to complete the call.
