The radio
RDS broadcasting
The unit can display the text data transmitted by the radio
data system (RDS) available in some areas.
If the station you are listening to is transmitting RDS
signals, "RDS" will light up on the display.
When "FM" is selected
Press [FUNCTIONS] to display the text data.
Each time you press the button:
P. SERVICE → P. TYPE → Frequency display
(factory preset)
P. SERVICE: Program service
P. TYPE : Program type

Note
RDS displays may not be available if reception is poor.
• Tapes exceeding 100 minutes are thin and can break
or get caught in the mechanism.
• Tape slack can get caught up in the mechanism and
should be wound up before the tape is played.
• Endless tapes can get caught up in the deck's moving
parts if used incorrectly. Use tapes appropriate to this

unit's auto-reverse mechanism.
Play
Use normal position tapes.
High position and metal position tapes can be played, but
the unit is not able to do full justice to the characteristics
of these tapes.

Press [w q, TAPE]
The unit comes on. If a cassette was loaded, play
starts automatically.

Press [;, TAPE OPEN] on this unit and insert the
cassette.
Make sure that the cassette is fully inserted and
