Adjusting the Brakes

If the parking brake does not hold securely, an adjustment
is required.
1. Check the brake before you adjust it; refer to
the Parking Brake (page
2. Park the machine on a level surface, disengage the
PTO, and set the parking brake.
3. Stop the engine, remove the key, and wait for all moving
parts to stop before leaving the operating position.
4. Release the parking brake.
5. To adjust the brake, remove the hairpin cotter and
clevis pin from the lower brake lever and yoke

6. Loosen the jam nut
7. Rotate the yoke

Note: To tighten the brake, rotate the yoke up.
Note: To loosen the brake, rotate the yoke down.
8. Secure the yoke to the lower brake lever with the
hairpin cotter and clevis pin
9. Tighten the jam nut
10. Check the brake operation again; refer to
Parking Brake (page

11. After the brake is adjusted, check the lever switch

12. Check the gap between the brake lever and the face of
the switch as shown in
Note: The gap needs to be within 3mm (1/8 inch)
with the brake engaged.
13. If needed, loosen the screws holding the switch and
adjust the switch.
