Quick Start Guide

Install Batteries

Console: 4 AA batteries
Wand: 2 AA batteries, unless attached to console
To attach: Align the red dots and press.
To release: Grasp the collar and pull.
Do not pull directly on the cable.

View Caps

Always use the same view cap for associated
above- and below-canopy readings. Use the view-
restricting caps:
To block the sun from the sensor's view.
l
To block the operator from the sensor's view.
l
When cloud cover is non-uniform.
l
When there are gaps or clumps in the canopy.
l
To reduce the required plot size.
l
To make above-canopy measurements in a
l
small forest clearing.

Cable Precautions

Do not hang the instru-
ment from the cable.
Overcast Conditions
Optimum sky conditions are uniform overcast
l
or immediately before sunrise or after sunset.
Clear, partly cloudy, or other sky conditions
l
are suitable with proper sampling technique.
The worst sky conditions are under direct sun-
l
light. Refer to the LAI-2200 Instruction Manual
for more details.
