Installing the Blade

1. Install a sharp, balanced Toro blade, the washer,
anti-scalp cup, and blade nuts. The sail of the blade
must point toward the top of the mower housing for
proper installation. Torque the blade bolt to 75 to 85
ft-lb (102 to 115 N-m).
2. Return the machine to its operating position.
3. Close the fuel valve and fill the fuel tank with
gasoline.
4. Connect the wire to the spark plug.

Cleaning

Cleaning under the Belt Cover

Service Interval: Every 50 hours
1. Stop the engine and wait for all moving parts to stop.
2. Disconnect the wire from the spark plug (Figure 10).
3. Push down and forward on the front of the belt
cover to unlatch it from the front mounting screw
(Figure 31).
4. Push down on the belt cover on each side of the
engine and lift the cover off the machine.
5. Brush out the debris around the belt area.
6. Install the belt cover.
7. Connect the wire to the spark plug.
Cleaning under the Mower
Housing
To ensure the best performance, keep the underside of
the mower housing clean.
Washing Method
Service Interval: Before each use or daily
1. Position the machine on a flat concrete or asphalt
surface near a garden hose.
2. Start the engine.
3. Hold the running garden hose at handle level and
direct the water to flow on the ground just in front
of the right rear wheel (Figure 32).
